Production Process

Through World Class Manufacturing principles and Design for Manufacture and Assembly (DfMA) protocols, VOLUMETRIC™ adopts a lean and process-driven approach to increase efficiency and consistency.

The controlled production flow – from initial assembly of the superstructure and a watertight, highly insulated building envelope, right through to final finishing, decorating, and furnishing – is carefully managed and monitored at every step to ensure the quality that every client deserves. This non-combustible structure is BOPAS Certified, providing system performance assurance.

Mass Standardisation

Our robust and relocatable volumetric modules are designed for ease of manufacture, transportation, and installation. Innovative offsite technology combined with mass standardisation techniques ensures our advanced manufacturing facility is able to meet demand.

Continuous Improvement and 5S

Our total quality management approach – creating a climate of continual improvements within our specialist multi-skilled team and quality control systems, underpinned by rigorous inspection procedures – has been established to help us achieve our objective for zero defects.

Adopting the principles of 5S (Sort, Set in Order, Shine, Standardise, and Sustain), we recognise that a World Class Manufacturing process needs to take place in a world class manufacturing environment, and 5S supports a culture of perpetual improvement.

Environmental Impact

The embodied carbon assessment for MODULHAUS™ has been undertaken based on RICS and British Standard guidance and includes information from relevant Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs).
At all stages of the system development, these criteria have been assessed for the forecast 60-year whole-life embodied carbon, along with system energy use and full SAP calculations. The futureproof energy strategy for MODULHAUS™ is designed to exceed the Future Homes Standard.

Our approach to a lean process-driven manufacturing operation and the minimisation of waste – in terms of operative input and material efficiency – ensures that we use the optimal amount of resources in producing the MODULHAUS™  system, which in turn, leads to low embodied carbon results. The highest standard of thermal design and advanced heating systems also means that MODULHAUS™ is responsible for less operational energy carbon than comparable build methods.
